It was a hectic day.
I wasn’t done packing, but yet my flight was leaving that afternoon.
Val, Sue, and Dawn (dear God how I miss her) came over to say goodbye and to drive me to the airport. I remember feeling really overwhelmed by the love that I was feeling for my friends.
I remember feeling sad that we were leaving.
I remember feeling scared. Flying off into the unknown.
I didn’t know then that this would be the first day of the ride of our lives.
Literally.
We’d face unemployment. Miscarriages. Birth. Financial losses and gains. We’d knock on the door of divorce and all of the things in between.
And all of that began on April 10, 2009.
When I set off with my then 3-month-old daughter in hand and flew over 1,000 miles to California.
I also didn’t know that this journey would come full circle.
That after traveling cross country, we’d continue to do so… traveling a full 5,800 miles to get back to where we wanted to be.
To get home.
They say home is where the heart is.
They say every journey begins with one single step.
I hope to capture all of that here, and then some.
Pardon my dust while I try to get things together on the site… you know, and make it aesthetically pleasing for all.
But welcome to our new chapter. Cause now that we’re home. Now that we know that is is where we want to be?
The real adventure starts here.
